Working in notebooks (usually several at a time) is a crucial part of my process. This is where I explore new forms and ideas, do calculation and simply take notes. The idea of the notebook is compelling to me in part because it appears across so many different disciplines. There is something important about being able to “work out an idea” and “think with your hands” that leads to inspiration.
